Protection-Related Life Insurance in Europe 2020 is a report about this market in ten selected European countries, namely Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and the UK, and additionally includes each individual country report within this series. The collection offers a comprehensive overview and analysis of findings for the European market, worth a total of EUR 50 billion in premiums across all countries featured. For 2015 to 2019 and with a forecast for 2023, each study breaks down the market for protection-related life insurance on a standardised basis into five product types:
- risk life insurance;
- stand-alone critical illness insurance;
- stand-alone income protection insurance;
- funeral expenses / over-50s life insurance;
- key person cover.
For each product type, total premiums are segmentated between individual and group cover, while premiums for individual risk life are further split between policies with and without riders.
Each report also features an analysis of affinity and partnership marketing based on a survey of organisations that include automotive clubs, banking organisations, coalition loyalty / frequent flyer programs, funeral providers, insurers, online aggregators, professional associations, retailers, sharing economy entities, trade associations and trade unions. This analysis shows:
- which organisations distribute each of the five product types;
- and for each scheme, who are the underwriter and intermediary partners involved in it.
Finally, each study includes a discussion of the most significant underwriters and intermediaries active in this market.
