CASE STUDY

As a result of its long-standing consumer research programs in the UK, Finaccord was able to build and deliver to an insurance sector client a market model covering over 20 different forms of niche insurance, warranty and assistance product in the UK, including breakdown recovery, card protection, dental, home emergency, identity protection, mobile gadget, mobile phone, optical and pet insurance, plus concierge services. Among other data points, this model incorporated the following insights:

- the current, historical and forecast total value and volume of these markets split, where relevant, between policies sold on a stand-alone basis and policies packaged with other financial products (e.g. card protection cover bundled with added value accounts);

- the current, historical and forecast 'available' value and volume of these markets (i.e. the 'available' value and volume composed of switchers and new buyers), split in the same way;

- the current, historical and forecast distribution channels and interfaces used for acquiring these types of insurance, overlaying the percentage share attributable to each channel and interface with the 'available' value and volume in order to show the 'available' value and volume within each channel and interface.
